8mm Habotai scarf
8 x 54 inches
This scarf was dyed with coreopsis and printed with ginkgo, black currant, honey locust, geranium, columbine, and willow.
Eco-printing is a form of natural dyeing where color is imprinted onto fabric using the pigments present in leaves and other plant material. Fabric is tightly bundled with the plants and steamed to create unique prints. Some fabrics are also dyed with natural dyes, which may be derived from leaves, flowers, roots, bark, and even insects. Most of the plants I use for printing are gathered by hand in Minnesota.
